Profile
Prof. Gamze Sinem Yücel
Prof. Gamze Sinem Yücel, who publishes as G. S. Çağlar, is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology whose career spans reproductive medicine, assisted reproduction and minimally invasive gynaecological surgery. She graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1998 and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Dr. Zekai Tahir Burak Education and Research Hospital, Ankara, in 2003.
Her postgraduate training includes a fellowship in assisted reproduction at the University of Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Lübeck, Germany (2004–2005), a fellowship in minimal access surgery at World Laparoscopy Hospital, New Delhi (2010), and a master's degree in the biotechnology of human assisted reproduction and embryology from the University of Valencia (2017). In November 2017 she was awarded the Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgeon diploma of the GESEA programme by the European Academy of Gynaecological Surgery.
She joined Ufuk University Faculty of Medicine in 2008, becoming Associate Professor in 2012 and Professor in 2017, and later held a professorship at Lokman Hekim University Faculty of Medicine (2023–2025). Since February 2019 she has served as Head Mentor for the GESEA programme of the European Academy of Gynaecological Surgery, mentoring Level 1 trainees and instructing on GESEA laparoscopy and hysteroscopy courses, including a GESEA workshop in Cairo (2020). She also lectured on endometriosis and infertility in the Human Reproduction master's programme at Democritus University, Greece (2015–2019).
Her honours include first prize for an oral presentation at the 5th Congress of the Reproductive Medicine and Surgery Association (2015) and a Young Investigator Award of the European Association of Perinatal Medicine at the 2016 European Congress of Perinatal Medicine. She edited the multidisciplinary textbook Menopause (2016) and was translation editor of the Turkish editions of Ovarian Stimulation and Obstetric Evidence-Based Algorithms.
