Essential Information

Frequently asked questions

Still deciding? The programme office answers on WhatsApp and by email.

Ask on WhatsApp
Is this an official GESEA certification session?

The 31 January 2027 session is a GESEA Level 1 certification session at the Ankara training centre, held under the GESEA programme rules. The official GESEA Level 1 certificate is issued by ESGE on successful assessment.

Can I attend the training without taking certification?

Yes. Select the training-only route for 29–30 January. It includes a co-branded certificate of attendance, not the official GESEA Level 1 certificate. The official GESEA Level 1 e-learning is still mandatory for every participant and is purchased separately from the ESGE Academy.

Can I apply for certification only?

Yes. The certification-only route is scheduled for 31 January. Mandatory GESEA prerequisites, including the Level 1 e-learning, must be completed before the session; the e-learning is purchased directly from the ESGE Academy.

When do I pay?

Payment is requested only after academic review and written acceptance. Accepted applicants have three business days to complete payment in GBP.

What happens if I do not pass every certification component?

A further attempt can be booked at a future official session and is charged separately at the then-current certification fee, subject to the applicable GESEA rules.

Are meals, accommodation and transfers included?

Lunch and coffee breaks are included on attended programme days. Accommodation is available as an option at Bilkent Hotel and Conference Center; it is not included in the programme fees and the rate is provided on request. Local transfers can be arranged separately after contacting the programme office.

How many participants will attend?

The programme is planned for a cohort of up to 20 participants. Station planning will be configured for that cohort size.

Is Level 1 required before moving on to Level 2?

Not always. Under the GESEA pathway, direct entry to Level 2 is possible for experienced surgeons: it requires a signed letter from the physician's institution confirming relevant surgical experience — such as the number of laparoscopic hysterectomies performed — together with successful completion of the Level 2 e-learning module. Applications of this kind are assessed under the applicable GESEA rules.

What is the application deadline?

Applications are accepted until 14 January 2027 at 23:59 Türkiye time, subject to academic review.
