Practical Advanced Training
Cadaver Lab Workshops
Didactic lectures followed by hands-on cadaveric dissection. Faculty-to-participant ratio 1:2. Fresh-frozen specimens with 3D projection of techniques.
Programme Overview
ATDERA's cadaveric laboratory workshops provide intensive anatomical dissection and surgical approach training in a professional cadaveric facility over three to seven days. The workshops are designed for surgical trainees, practising surgeons, and anatomically focused clinicians who wish to deepen their understanding of regional anatomy in three dimensions and to practise surgical approaches in a setting that reproduces operative conditions with fidelity unmatched by synthetic models.
Each workshop is organised around a defined anatomical region or surgical specialty focus — for example, hepatobiliary surgical approaches, posterior spinal anatomy, head and neck dissection, or peripheral nerve anatomy for pain medicine practitioners. Faculty are specialist surgeons or anatomists with active experience in the relevant clinical domain, and dissection sessions are structured to move from surface landmark identification and layered dissection through to the specific anatomical targets relevant to the workshop's clinical focus.
Participants work in small groups with a high faculty-to-participant ratio, ensuring that each individual receives substantive hands-on dissection time rather than observing from a distance. Didactic sessions at the opening of each day provide anatomical context, review relevant clinical cases, and frame the dissection objectives for that session. Workshop content is calibrated to the professional background of registered participants, and pre-workshop reading materials are provided. All cadaveric work is conducted under the ethical approvals held by the host facility and in compliance with Turkish regulatory requirements for cadaveric educational programmes.
What You'll Cover
- Attend daily didactic orientation covering the anatomical focus, clinical relevance, and dissection objectives for each session
- Practice surface landmark identification and orientation on cadaveric specimens under faculty guidance
- Perform layered dissection through soft tissue planes to defined anatomical targets with faculty supervision
- Observe faculty demonstration of key surgical approaches within the workshop's specialty focus
- Practise specific surgical approach sequences on cadaveric specimens as directed by faculty
- Review dissected anatomy against clinical imaging and operative photographs provided by faculty
- Participate in end-of-day structured review session consolidating dissection findings and clinical applications
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate accurate identification of surface landmarks and key anatomical structures within the workshop's regional focus
- Apply layered dissection technique to expose defined anatomical targets under faculty supervision
- Analyse the three-dimensional relationships between structures relevant to the workshop's surgical approach focus
- Evaluate the clinical implications of anatomical variation encountered during dissection
- Demonstrate safe instrument handling and tissue management during cadaveric laboratory sessions
- Apply cadaveric dissection findings to improve understanding of clinical imaging and operative planning
- Analyse the anatomical basis for potential complications associated with the approaches practised during the workshop
