Programme Overview

ATDERA's academic advisory service is an ongoing structured engagement for physicians and clinicians pursuing a career in academic medicine who require expert guidance on navigating the academic pathway alongside clinical responsibilities. The service is not a training programme with fixed content — it is a sustained advisory relationship, typically initiated with a structured intake session and then maintained through regular scheduled advisory meetings over a defined engagement period.

Advisory content is driven by the participant's career stage and specific objectives. For early-career clinicians, engagements typically cover how to structure a research portfolio, identify appropriate fellowship and mentorship opportunities, and sequence clinical and academic commitments to build a credible academic CV. For mid-career physicians, advisory work may focus on grant proposal development — including research question framing, methodology selection, and understanding funder priorities — or on academic career review when a promotion or senior appointment is being considered.

Research design consultancy is a formal component of the service: participants developing new research questions receive structured input on study design, appropriate statistical approaches, and ethical submission requirements. ATDERA's advisors draw on direct experience within UK, European, and Turkish academic medicine. The service is appropriate for clinicians at any stage of an academic career who benefit from structured external perspective beyond what is available through their own institution's mentorship provision.
