Publication Mentorship
One-on-one mentorship on article preparation, study design, statistical analysis, journal selection, and application process.
Programme Overview
ATDERA's publication mentorship programme provides structured support to physicians, residents, and clinical researchers at the stage of translating clinical experience or research data into peer-reviewed publications. The programme runs over three to six months and combines structured remote engagement — written feedback cycles, editorial guidance sessions, and scheduled video meetings with senior authors — with one to two in-person blocks in Turkey for intensive manuscript working sessions.
Each participant is matched with a senior academic mentor who has an active publication record relevant to the participant's clinical area. The mentorship process begins with manuscript scope definition: mentor and participant work together to assess whether the material — whether retrospective clinical data, case series, systematic review, or original research — is positioned appropriately for the target journal tier. From that foundation, participants work through structured drafting stages, with the mentor providing substantive editorial feedback at each stage rather than simply reviewing a near-final version.
Journal selection guidance is a formal component of the programme, covering how to evaluate a journal's scope, impact factor considerations, open access requirements, and how to interpret and respond to peer reviewer comments after submission. Participants who have previously received reviewer feedback on rejected manuscripts can incorporate that correspondence into the mentorship process. The programme is appropriate for clinicians who have publishable material but have not yet completed the submission and peer review cycle, or who have experienced difficulty navigating the revision process.
