A three-day English-language programme combining the GESEA Basic Level curriculum, structured hands-on training and an officially approved Level 1 certification session in Ankara.

The Basic Level Pathway
GESEA Level 1 brings the essential skills of laparoscopy and hysteroscopy into a defined training and assessment framework. The Ankara programme moves from core theory to deliberate practice across LASTT, SUTT and HYSTT before the scheduled certification session.
Training is organised around the GESEA Basic Level exercises and assessment structure.

Training Architecture
The practical curriculum is organised around camera navigation, hand–eye coordination, bimanual control, laparoscopic suturing and hysteroscopic orientation.

Who Should Apply
Applications are academically reviewed to align each participant’s current experience with the selected route.
The official GESEA Level 1 e-learning is mandatory for every participant — including training-only participants who do not sit the certification exam. It is purchased separately and directly from the ESGE Academy; its fee is not included in the programme fees on this page.

Training Centre
The programme is delivered at the training centre established within UFSEM. Training capacity and station planning are configured for a cohort of up to 20 participants.

The certification session is an officially approved GESEA Level 1 session and appears on the ESGE educational calendar. Training takes place at the Reproductive Medicine and Surgery Association GESEA Training Center, hosted at Ufuk University's continuing education centre (UFSEM); the mandatory Level 1 e-learning is provided by the ESGE Academy.

All fees are collected in GBP and are subject to VAT. Lunch and coffee breaks are included on the relevant attendance days. The mandatory GESEA Level 1 e-learning is not included: it is purchased separately and directly from the ESGE Academy.

Essential Information
Yes. The 22 November 2026 session is an officially approved GESEA Level 1 certification session at the Ankara training centre.
Yes. Select the training-only route for 20–21 November. It includes a co-branded certificate of attendance, not the official GESEA Level 1 certificate. The official GESEA Level 1 e-learning is still mandatory for every participant and is purchased separately from the ESGE Academy.
Yes. The certification-only route is scheduled for 22 November. Mandatory GESEA prerequisites, including the Level 1 e-learning, must be completed before the session; the e-learning is purchased directly from the ESGE Academy.
Payment is requested only after academic review and written acceptance. Accepted applicants have three business days to complete payment in GBP.
A further attempt can be booked at a future official session and is charged separately at the then-current certification fee, subject to the applicable GESEA rules.
Lunch and coffee breaks are included on attended programme days. Accommodation and local transfers are not included, but can be arranged separately after contacting the programme office.
The programme is planned for a cohort of up to 20 participants. Station planning will be configured for that cohort size.
Not always. Under the GESEA pathway, direct entry to Level 2 is possible for experienced surgeons: it requires a signed letter from the physician's institution confirming relevant surgical experience — such as the number of laparoscopic hysterectomies performed — together with successful completion of the Level 2 e-learning module. Applications of this kind are assessed under the applicable GESEA rules.
